The Ice Hotel

We checked in to the ice hotel,
Our luggage filled with coats

And when you spoke, your hot
Breath misted in the air and

Collected on the glass like a
Flower that had found

Its way through layers of the
Permafrost - thick veined

And bloody as a bruise.

And as we made our way up
Stairs the walls about us

Seemed to stir and crack with
Every single step,

As if we walked on the surface
Of a frozen lake,

Shifting from one foot to the
Other, oblivious to its

Cold and icy depths.
